Privacy Policy

Nobel Games — last updated 11 May 2026.

We don’t collect data about you or your kids. The full story takes one extra paragraph because of how fonts work on the modern web.

What Font Quest collects

Nothing. Font Quest does not send us analytics, crash reports, telemetry, screenshots, your kid’s progress, or anything else. We don’t run a server that the game could talk to. The game saves your kid’s progress (collected fonts, scores, story progress) to a local file on your computer. That file never leaves your machine. We can’t see it.

One thing the game does do online: load fonts from Google Fonts

Font Quest features more than 1,900 real-world typefaces — the entire Google Fonts library. We bundle about 50 fonts directly with the game so it works fully without internet. The other ~1,850 are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) the first time your kid views them, which is the same mechanism most modern websites use.

What this means in practice:

  • Google receives a standard web request for the font file. That request includes your computer’s IP address and User-Agent string, the same information your computer sends to any website you visit. Google’s privacy policy covers what they do with these requests: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • No identifying information about you, your kid, or your game progress is included in those requests. Google sees “someone is loading this font,” not “this child is playing Font Quest.”
  • No cookies are set by Google Fonts API.
  • We never see these requests. Nobel Games is not in the loop.
  • Once a font is loaded, your computer caches it. Subsequent uses of that font work without internet.
  • You can play offline — the 50 bundled fonts work without internet, and any fonts you’ve previously viewed will work from cache.

If you’d rather your computer never contacts Google Fonts, you can block fonts.googleapis.com at your router or with a tool like Pi-hole; the game continues to work, just with the 50 bundled fonts only.

What our website collects

The game and the website make two different promises, and we want to state both plainly: the desktop games collect nothing, ever. This website — the marketing site you’re reading now — keeps anonymous page counts, plus the optional things below. None of them touch the game itself.

  • Anonymous page counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on this website only — never in the games. It is cookieless, sets no identifiers, and doesn’t follow you across sites. We see “the Font Quest page got some visits today,” never who you are. We use it to know which pages are worth improving. Cloudflare’s notes on how it works: cloudflare.com/web-analytics.
  • Newsletter signup (optional). If you give us your email address, we keep it so we can email you. We don’t share it. You can unsubscribe with one click. We use Mailchimp to send the emails; their privacy policy applies to the email service itself.
  • Parent account (optional). If you choose to create a Nobel Games account at nobelgames.io/library, we use Clerk to handle sign-in. Clerk stores your email and authentication metadata (session tokens, approximate sign-in IP for fraud prevention). We use this only to let you re-download Font Quest on other computers and look up your receipts. Accounts are never required to buy or play the game — the download links in your Paddle receipt work without one. Clerk’s privacy policy: clerk.com/legal/privacy.
  • Standard server logs. Like every website, our host records that someone visited and what page they loaded. We do not use this for analytics or advertising. Logs are deleted after 30 days.

We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party trackers — the anonymous Cloudflare page counter above is cookieless and identifies nobody. The only cookies on the site are the strictly-necessary session cookie Clerk sets when you’re signed in.

What payment collects

When you buy Font Quest, our payment processor (Paddle) handles the transaction. They collect your name, email, billing address, and payment details so the purchase can be completed and any required tax can be filed. Their privacy policy applies to that data — we recommend reviewing it:

  • Paddle: paddle.com/legal/privacy

We receive your name, email, and the fact that you purchased Font Quest. We use that to fulfill the order, deliver your download links, and answer any support questions you send us. If you also create a Nobel Games account with the same email, we link the two so your purchases show up in your library. We do not use any of this for marketing, and there is no automatic email signup tied to your purchase.

Children

Font Quest is designed for children. Nobel Games collects no data from children using the game. The only outbound network behavior is the Google Fonts font request described above, which contains no information about the user beyond what every browser sends to every website.

We believe Font Quest is COPPA-compliant: we do not collect “personal information” from children as COPPA defines it. The Google Fonts CDN behavior is identical to visiting any other modern website, and is documented here so parents can make their own choice.

The newsletter signup on our website is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect children’s email addresses.

Your rights

Because we collect almost nothing, the typical “data subject rights” requests are short:

  • See what we have: for most users, it’s just your email if you signed up for the newsletter. Email us and we’ll tell you.
  • Delete what we have: unsubscribe from the newsletter, or email us and we’ll remove your address.
  • Correct what we have: email us.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material — like adding analytics, or any kind of data collection — we will say so prominently on the website and email newsletter subscribers in advance. We do not anticipate any such change.
